In Health & Body: Sun Strengthens the Immune System

| It has now become clear that the old and outmoded advice to stay out of the sun and continuously apply sun lotion has led to millions of deaths. Living in the shadow goes hand in hand with cancer, heart problems, obesity, viral infections, and depression. But also for those who are young, and have no interest in the problems the future might bring, vitamin D has everything to offer: Strength, Potency, and a Six-pack.

In History & Politics: New Bill is Landmark for Transgender

| The Dutch cabinet has passed a bill by State Secretary Fred Teeven (Safety and Justice, VVD) which will make it a lot easier for transgenders to change the gender on their birth certificate. Transgender Network Netherlands (TNN) and gay interest group COC Netherlands, organisations that have spent years on getting better legislation, speak of a landmark for transgenders in The Netherlands.

In History & Politics: No Gay Refugees Back To Iraq

| COC Netherlands does not want Minister Leers (Asylum) to send back lesbian, gay and transgender (LHBT) asylum seekers to Iraq. With this, the COC is responding to new information on the life threatening situation of LHBT’s in Iraq.
‘The situation in Iraq is highly dangerous and LHBT’s are systematically confronted with atrocities,’ according to COC chairwoman Vera Bergkamp. ‘The protection The Netherlands is offering LHBT refugees is completely inadequate. We will ask Minister Leers to grant them asylum as a group’.

In General: COC: Structural UN Attention to Gay Rights

| COC Netherlands wants the United Nations to pay structural attention to the human rights of lesbian women, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender (LGBT’s). To that end, a special rapporteur on LGBT rights should be appointed. For the first time in history, the United Nations Human Rights Council debated the violation of human rights based on sexual orientation and gender identity on Wednesday, March 7.

In Travel and weekendtrips: Travel - Out in Kenia

| Unfortunately gay tourists are not really welcome in Kenya. Gay sex is even illegal. A large majority of the population thinks gay and transgender people are disgusting.
That’s the bad news.
But after South Africa Kenya is the most popular holiday destination in Black Africa, because it is a phenomenal country. With friendly people, unparalleled landscapes and even something that feels like a gay nightlife. Although you have to be careful and discrete and know the right people.

In Columns & Opinions: ‘Popper Me Up and Fuck My Mangina!’

| The week from the 1st till the 8th of August in 1998 was one of the most beautiful of my life. De Gay Games here in Amsterdam. Our own gay international sports and culture gathering. At the time I was working at City Hall for the center of town. I sent out a group mail to all my colleagues if they wanted to volunteer as a steward during the opening and closing ceremonies in the Arena. Within three days I had seventy-five applications.

In Lifestyle & Fashion: Milan Menswear 2012

| In 2011 the total income of the Italian fashion labels amounted to sixty-three billion Euros. The ‘made in Italy’ tag is clearly doing well internationally. But the ongoing euro crisis hangs like a dark cloud over the Italian fashion landscape. “The most evident aspect of the current economic situation is the utter uncertainty of the future,” says Mario Boselli of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion.
