Amsterdam Leather Bar The Eagle Reopens
 The Amsterdam Eagle will open again after having been closed for one and a half years. On April 18 the doors of this legendary bar will be unlocked again for the eager customers. The new team and manager express their ambition to play a major role in Amsterdam’s fetish scene once more.
After the closure of The Eagle and Dirty Dicks because of the sudden death of owner Paul Wierks at the end of 2010, the Amsterdam Warmoesstraat had lost some of its attraction as the center of Amsterdam’s leather scene, and the reopening of The Eagle will make sure some of the old lustre will return to this street.
Because of a fire in the upstairs appartments a renovation was necessary. In the course of this refurbishment some exciting changes and improvements have been carried out. To a large extend, however, The Eagle has kept its well-known former character. Even the “dark and underground” style of music The Eagle was always noted for will make its return. Michael Roks, The Eagle’s new manager, has found London DJ Roberto Varano willing to take care of the music.
To give Amsterdam’s fetish scene a boost, Michael Roks will also organize some full-scale events in The Eagle. The first major event will be the Full Fetish Weekend during Ascenscion Weekend, May 17-20. Moreover, from now on every Thursday night in The Eagle will be “Code Night,” which means only man in fetish gear will be allowed in the darkroom. So, get out your leather, latex, uniforms, sportswear, or lycra, boots & jocks or harness and join the Thursday fun.
The Eagle still is a bar one can visit seven days a week, on weekdays from 10 p.m. till 4 a.m. and on Friday and Saturday night till 5 a.m. More information about The Eagle’s reopening and the plans of the new staff can be found in the May issue of “Gay News.”
