The Finnish Olympic swimmer Ari-Pekka Liukkonen, 34, is the eighth athlete to come out of the closet this year. Liukkonen, who participated in the Olympic Games last year, and won a bronze medal at the European Championships that same year, says he came out of the closet to raise awareness of the Russian Federation's anti-gay laws.

On Wednesday March 12, Laura Zambelli will discuss the BDSM scene in Italy in a Mosse Lecture. She will focus on the fieldwork she does in this scene for her PhD research. After defining what we mean in general with BDSM, she will focus on the Italian context. It is peculiar since, notwithstanding the presence of a quite developed BDSM scene, there is no academic work about this topic.
