Like in nature high tide comes after low tide like clockwork, fashion flows as well. After several seasons of safe natural colors and a lot of black and whites, bold bright colors all of a sudden reappear. Still, natural colors dominate a lot of collections but some designers (the ones who have the talent of seeing things in advance) like Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada are not afraid to reintroduce the color in its entire splendor. Especially in the coming winter collections for 2011-2012 color will again have a prominent place.
He is 21, starred in about fifty porn movies and is a regular Belgian boy dressed in a gray T-shirt and faded jeans, except when he’s on the set of course. Philippe Delvaux (his real name is kept a secret) is famous with gays not really into hairy legs and black leather, but prefer an angelic, sometimes sultry, other times questioning or confident blue glance. But unfortunately the world of porn is not just soaked in glamour, Jacuzzis, expensive sports cars and huge amounts of money.
I have been sexually active since my tenth in Zaandam. Our family moved to Wormerveer when I was eleven. All new neighbor boys. And I became very popular. In the alley. On the playground. With rented rowing boats on the Guisveld. “The Breed boy dares to take it into his mouth.” The news spread through the neighborhood like wild fire. I got really busy. But things didn’t stay that way. My neighborhood boys all got girlfriends and they forgot about me. And I didn’t want to be different. I also got myself a girlfriend. But I wasn’t completely satisfied. Where to find men though? In the big exciting city of Amsterdam of course.
On Monday the 21st of March author Yvonne Kroonenberg has officially launched www.roze50plus.nl, a new dating site for elderly gays. This took place in The Hague during the interdepartmental meeting “homosexuality amongst the elderly” of the “Roze 50+” organization and policy makers.

The Pink Film Days 2011 are behind us again. The organization can look back upon a very successful edition. Mayor Eberhard van der Laan opened the event by saying: “We can use all sorts of things to make clear to people that Amsterdam is also a Gay City. The Pink Film Days express that our gay community is a prominent part of our city.”
Although many male couples in real life undoubtedly have an exuberant sex life, love and porn don’t seem to go together. Of course there are movies in which the extramarital sexual escapades of a man are reason for his partner to indulge in lots of action in revenge. And I can also remember movies in which a guy has lots of excessive horny sex with others only to return to his boyfriend for some sweet lovemaking. But even in these cases the underlying message seems to be that sex with a stranger is more interesting and exciting than with one’s partner, in short the sexual preference of Mister Right Away over Mister Right.
I was sitting at an outside table in the sun with a friend when a guy approached us with a question. As the stranger addressed us with “Sir” my friend looked up suspiciously and whispered something about a golden rule that “Sir” is a title one has to earn. I didn’t mind however, after all, my friend had organized the event and I had done some writing for the program book. Also, I saw the guy was wearing a chain with a padlock around his neck and we were dressed in full leather uniform. That was exactly what the man was acquiring about, namely whether I had bought my clothes. Not “where” but “whether.”
The integration of homosexuals in Belgian society is an illusion. At least, according to the – by the way straight – actors in the Flemish soap opera “Thuis” (At Home), who are playing a gay couple. This story line in the popular soap has caused a storm of criticism in the last couple of weeks.
Experience the atmosphere of Berlin in the twenties and thirties with a dash of now! Be surprised with the actuality of Bertolt Brecht’s repertoire, his contemporaries and modern fellow thinkers.
In the autumn of 2010 Annette Hildebrand and Kees van Zantwijk organized a very successful three-week festival with the title “Brecht im Licht” (Brecht in the Spotlight). In the “Brecht TingelTangel” the audience was introduced to many artists and the rich diversity of the Brecht repertoire. The TingelTangel turned out to be a golden formula.
In 1996 Richard Bolk started his hairdressing salon at no. 74 on the Korte Leidsedwarsstraat. Fifteen years later Richard is by himself again and cuts hair by appointment.
Walking past Cuts & Curls you can’t miss the big gay flag above Richard’s motorbike parked in front of the window. The business’ logo is displayed prominently: an image of a bald man. Perhaps not the most obvious choice for a hairdresser?
In the summer of 2010 a new comedy named “Hot in Cleveland” was shown on TV Land in America. It was an instant success. Never before did TV Land reach such high viewing ratings. “Hot in Cleveland” is about three middle-aged women and their elderly landlady.
The story: Three girlfriends (Melanie, Joy and Victoria) are on their way to Paris when their plane gets in trouble and has to perform an emergency landing in Cleveland.
COC Netherlands is happy with the policy of Minister Van Bijsterveldt to intensify the LGBT approach. The organization is also pleased with the priority the administration is giving to the security of lesbian women, gay men, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBTs).

How does a teacher, especially a gay teacher, respond to the gradual increase in ethnic minorities in the student body? My Teacher is Gay tells the story of Peter van Maaren, who recounts his experiences at a community college in Amsterdam as the school undergoes significant changes. His upbeat and sometimes disconcerting stories involve not only his interactions with students but also his fellow faculty members and school administration.
