IDAHOTIQZ, an Evening of Variety Theatre

People regularly tell me that Amsterdam is no longer what it once was. In the past, there were shows in cafés and discos they tell me. IDAHOTIQZ was such an evening, but let me start at the beginning.

How Did the Gay Emancipation Movement Fare After 1969?

The gay revolution broke loose in the years following 1969, and it was certainly a left-wing movement: much needed to change, and some of it completely. Dear Neighbors to the North, The first half of 2019 has come to an end. Following below are high-profile and abject quotes about our queer people in all GLBTQI forms in the Flemish media. Or how well-known and lesser-known Flemish people express their opinions about gays, (too) often unvarnished, if you ask me.

Away with Gay Identity! Cherish Versatility!

I’m a barrel of contradictions, I must admit. I’m poor, but feel rich. I am a man and I also have qualities that are generally called feminine. Long ago I stopped worrying about that. My identity as a Dutchman is under pressure, now that I feel more and more European or even a citizen of the world. I was born a Catholic boy, but since a few years I am now an atheist without any registered religion.

Student Life: From Milan to Pride Amsterdam

There were plenty of events organized by the many committees and the board of A.S.V.Gay in the months of May and June. Pride: So much to Do

The title of this column describes the high workload that we are experiencing at the office these weeks due to the introduction and sale of the Pride vignettes, the various production deadlines, as well as the collection and delivery of a large number of documents that are required by the City for all required exemptions. But I do not want to discuss that here.

Geert Wilders, Marine Le Pen, GLBT+ Rights and the European Parliament

Yesterday was July 2, 2019. “So what?” I hear you thinking. What’s so special about this date? Indeed, for most of us the date doesn’t signify anything of importance. Yet it is a day that will affect all of us. I am not talking about the total solar eclipse that takes place that day (almost completely above water and not visible) but about the first day of the session period of the newly elected European Parliament.
