In Moscow Gay Parades are banned for the coming 100 years


For the next 100 years there are no gay parades allowed in Moscow. The Tverskoy district court ruled in June that public events like gay pride are prohibited from March 2012 till May 2112.

Anti gay therapy no longer covered


Minister Schippers of Public Health has decided to stop the coverage of the costs of the ‘anti gay therapy’ of the Christian organization Different. The COC has been asking to do so from January when it came out that Different claimed to help people to get rid of their homosexuality.

Denmark introduces same-sex marriages


The Danish parliament has approved legislation that makes it possible for same-sex couples to get married. Denmark is the eighth European country to introduce gay marriage. The legislation came into effect on the 15th of June.

COC: Council of State is condoning discrimination


‘The Council of State is accepting discrimination,’ says COC chair Vera Bergkamp in response to the Council’s advice on the marriage celebrants refusing to perform same-sex marriages.

American conservative Jews recognize gay marriage


The conservative branch of the American Jewish society – representing about a third of the American Jews – has officially accepted a religious ceremony for a wedding of a same-sex couple. Within the Reconstructionist Jewish Society these type of ceremonies were already held.

Expo News: Garden Gods in Paradise


Recently Mark J. de Vries of the Gay Garden Club opened the exhibition “Garden Gods in Paradise” at Gallery MooiMan in Groningen. This show was part of the Garden & Art ten-day festival in the north of Holland Gallery MooiMan took part in for the first time. “Garden Gods in Paradise” will be in the gallery until the end of August, as well as in the sculpture garden.

Letter from Brussels: Islam and gays


Dear Northern Neighbors, Last week the Brussels police tried to check the identity of a young Muslim woman. She wore a face covering niqab, hence the id check. It completely got out of control, both on the side of the police officers trying to do their work, as on the side of the woman, a converted Belgian, who resisted her arrest.
