Friends who live in the center of Brussels, had told me repeatedly over the last couple of weeks that the nightlife had been unusually quiet for months already. It wasn’t just for the summer months because they said they had noticed in spring already that the bars in the heart of Brussels are in decline. Style 2009-2010 Paris


Recent figures show that the Dutch fashion industry is relatively unaffected by the recession till now. Turnover dropped over the first half year in 2009 with an average of 2.7% in comparison with 2008. While the second half year of 2009 men’s fashion started off well with a plus of 6.3%. Pulp Fiction - A Serial Killer In Amsterdam


This summer the pulp novella “Het Beest van Amsterdam” (The Beast of Amsterdam) was published. It’s a story about a serial killer strangling his way through the Amsterdam gay scene while potential victims happily keep screwing around.

Author GJ Wielinga: “I’ve been fascinated by serial killers for a while and by Jeffrey Dahmer in particular, who killed seventeen men in the eighties.

‘Pink German’ Rolf A. Döhrn Passed Away In Amsterdam


On the 17th of August Rolf Alois Döhrn passed away. He was born on the 14th of February 1927 in Germany, and moved in 1934 as a seven-year old boy with his mother to Holland. His mother had found a husband here. His time in Germany had not been easy, but things deteriorated even more here in The Netherlands, especially when anti-German sentiments rose just before and of course during the Second World War.

Church Celebrates Its First Year

Henk van Ulsen passed away


On Friday the 28th of August actor Henk van Ulsen (1927 – 2009) died unexpectedly in his Bussum home from a cardiac arrest. Van Ulsen was considered one of the last great classic Dutch actors. Multi-talented but always very recognizable he mainly known for his solo-performances, of which his interpretation of Diary of a Madman by Nikolai Gogol was the most successful.

Gays in Iraq are being tortured and murdered


Hundreds of gays have been assaulted and murdered in Iraq. Many of these assaults and killings are executed by the national security forces, says the human rights organization Human Rights Watch (HRW) in a new report that was published today.

Circumcision is no protection against hiv with anal sex


Circumcision might protect heterosexual men in Africa from contracting hiv, for gay men unfortunately, it offers no protection. This is the conclusion of a research in the US on the effects of circumcision of gay men, which was presented at the annual hiv convention in Atlanta. Dr. Peter Klimarx of the Centre of Disease Control (CDC) said that ‘circumcision has no effect in preventing hiv to spread through anal sex.’
