Short Story - An Exciting Summer Afternoon

I don’t think I will ever forget the first time I had sex with another guy. It was the most beautiful experience I have ever had. It happened during the summer of 1977. I had just finished high school and I had realized I was gay. I’d often jerked-off while fantasizing about some class mates and after gym I had to take great pains not to gaze at the butts and dicks of some of the jocks, while they took a shower without any feelings of shame. I had occasionally purchased gay porn magazines and the photos and especially the stories had made me extremely horny.

Behind the Scenes
Karina Smulders Plays Nina Hagen

Actress Karina Smulders will play the part of the German punk singer Nina Hagen in “Wild Romance,” director Jean van de Velde’s new biographical movie about Herman Brood. Most people will know Smulders as Lotje from the Dutch soap opera “Onderweg naar morgen,” but she’s also been part of Toneelgroep Amsterdam for a while already. You can also see her in “Ik omhels je met duizend armen,” Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen’s last movie, based on the novel by Ronald Giphart.

Portfolio - French Locker Room Hunks

By now they have become unassailable icons of male virility, the Parisian rugby players, these Stadium Gods. It all started a few years ago with beautiful calendars, next came the “making of...” DVDs, and finally a large number of these sensual portraits were collected in a sumptuous photo book last year, which in the meanwhile can be found on many queer coffee tables and bedside stands. The German edition sold out within a year, but fortunately some months ago an American edition was released.

Cybersex - Lawmakers Try To Impose Restraints On Internet Porn

Internet, and especially the erotic sides of it, keeps troubling the lawmakers’ minds. In our last issue we reported on the recently accepted legislation 2257 in the US, which is supposedly aimed to combat child abuse and child porn. However, because of its ridiculous definitions of “sexually explicit material” as well as “producer”, and the very strict rules for “producers”, the new rule affects the porn industry severely, as it does anyone in the US who posts erotic material on the internet, even if it’s pics of yourself and you’re 47 years old.

The Scene - What Happened?

Starting this issue the Scene Queen will regularly speak his mind about his experiences in and ideas about the queer scene in Amsterdam, Holland, and abroad. (Eds.)

I was sitting under the arches in Star Bucks in London sipping my grande cappachino, waiting for my friend to arrive and head off to Heaven for some fun on a Saturday night. I hadn’t been out in London in a couple of years, so I was very curious to see what was going on compared to what was definitely NOT going on in Amsterdam.

A Same-Sex Marriage In Pakistan?

It’s common knowledge that at present the Islam regards homosexuality with disfavor. It’s therefore striking when a report surfaces that seems to evoke the Golden Age of Islamic culture, when poets sang the praise of boy love. Early October such a report appeared. It mentioned that in the remote Tirah valley in Pakistan the 42-year-old Liaquat Ali, an Afghan refugee, had fallen in love with 16-year-old Markeen Afridi and married his beloved.

Volunteer Efforts Boost Annual Charity Windfall

Outsiders often perceive the leather scene as a hedonistic subculture, interested in sex only. This is a very biased and therefore inaccurate view, as the record amount shows that’s allocated to charities after the latest Folsom Street Fair. The Folsom Street Fair is the largest leather, alternative and fetish street fair in the world with over 400,000 attendees annually. This year marked the 22nd year of Folsom Street Fair.

Life in out-er space: Mr. Sulu comes out

Some years ago the German cinemas showed the movie “Traumschiff Surprise: Episode 1" (now available on DVD). This is a corny queer parody of the original “Star Trek” series, and Captain Kirk and Mister Spock - who have a very special bond anyway, according to many viewers - are represented as flamboyant sissies. Therefore it’s curious that neither William Shatner nor Leonard Nimoy recently came out, but actor George Takei, better known as Mr. Sulu on the original “Star Trek” series and six subsequent movies.

Rotterdam’s immigrant youth increasingly hostile towards homosexuality

More and more immigrant youth in Rotterdam reject homosexuality. Especially Turkish boys in the first year of secondary school are very negative about gays and lesbians. This conclusion comes from the Rotterdam Youth Monitor. Since 1996 the public health organization (GGD) has been conducting research on the physical and social health of kids under eighteen. The Rotterdam Youth Monitor came with remarkable figures about intolerance towards gays in 2002.

Rules That Could Threaten Photos On Personals Sites Subject Of Court Battle

Another extension was made recently delaying enforcement of expanded federal regulations that some gay male cruising web sites say threaten the use of nude photos, a staple of their popularity. The temporary reprieve of enforcement of newly revised 18 U.S. Code 2257 was extended to members of the Free Speech Coalition, an adult industry trade group, until November 30. A similar month-long agreement expired October 31. Attorneys with the Free Speech Coalition filed a motion for the extension in the U.S. District Court of Colorado on October 31.
