In The Hague, Orlando Boldewijn was commemorated in the Ypenburg district. In February, the seventeen-year-old boy from Rotterdam died there after a date via the gay app Grindr. After a week of searching for his body, his remains were found in the water of the Blauwe Loper pond.

The commemoration was attended by nearly a hundred people, including family members and friends of Orlando, and was followed by a silent march. They all brought yellow flowers, which they placed at 'Orlando's tree' near the pond.
A friend spoke a word of warning: 'I have a message for all young people under twenty: leave the Grindr app as soon as possible. What happened to Orlando should never happen again. You should avoid Grindr. Wait until you can handle those perverts." Another friend said: 'His search for affection proved fatal to him. Orlando was love. He was real."
A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of Orlando. This man - with whom he had met - was released again but remain a suspect. So far, the Justice department has not made any statements about what exactly happened to Orlando.
