Dit artikel is ook in het Nederlands beschikbaar

The Zóciëteit, the society to make new friends outside of the bar scene, moves to a new place in the Claverhuis, 70 Elandsgracht, Amsterdam. On November 15 the society has an Open House where it presents itself to anyone interested with a discussion about “social media.”

As guest speakers are invited Stephan Sanders, author and commentator, and Rutger Lemm, journalist and occasional stand-up comedian. In stimulating columns they will cast their light on the social media, dating sites and gay dating. Do these new possibilities have an enriching or a destructive effect on the social lifes of gay men? Will all gay men transform into online individualists or will the need continue to exist to meet offline at Tijgertje, Nether Bears, Queens Head, et cetera? Or lies the reality somewhere between the two?

Stephan Sanders has written several books and authors a weekly column in magazine “Vrij Nederland.”

At the time of the Amsterdam Gay Pride, Rutger Lemm published a hilarious article about his experiences with Grindr, the online dating app. But he really didn’t want to follow up on the hit of a Nether Bear two streets away. Does he hold a mirror up to our faces or does he think there will be possibilities for straight dating with Grindr?

The program starts at 21:00. Before and after the columns of the guest speakers there will be ample opportunity for persons interested to get acquainted with the society and its activities. See also
