Punishment on discrimination doubled.

by Frank Rovers in History & Politics , 11 mei 2001

The government of the Netherlands is taking a stand against discrimination. There is a plan which will make sure that people who are discriminating on a regular basis will go to jail for a longer period of time.

This new discrimination law is for people who go on discriminating although they’ve been warned. This law also has an effect on groups who discriminate. As up to now people can go to jail for a period of one year. The plan is that this will double to a maximum of two years. The law refers to discrimination against race, philosophy of life and sexual orientation. Perhaps this will teach people who go on and tell discriminating thing on television to shut there mouth.
